Local Demographics Researcher

Hacienda Merida/Ometepe Bilingual School is currently seeking a Local Demographics Researcher with strong Spanish skills to design, collect, and evaluate demographic profiles on the families of the 85 students who attend the school. This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate studies project. The results of the study will provide the school the data we need to help our global supporters, potential donors, volunteers, and the community better understand the context of running a school in rural Nicaragua. It will also give us baseline data to evaluate changes over time. 


  • Spend time at Hacienda Merida, Ometepe Bilingual School, and in the community.
  • Working with both the school founder and director, design a culturally appropriate survey in Spanish.
  • Interview school parents and family members to gather demographic information including factors such as family size and composition, age, income and sources of income, education level, as well as health factors.
  • Analyze interview data and prepare demographics report including visuals


  • Fluent in English and Spanish 
  • Personable and comfortable interviewing families
  • Experienced in data collection and evaluation
