Hike, Bike or Horseback ride to the San Ramon Waterfall

Spanish French German

The San Ramon Waterfall entrance is located 4km from Hacienda Merida. It will take from 1 to 2 hours to walk the 3km uphill. Sneakers are advised, as some parts of the hike are steep and other sections of the trail take you through streams and over rocks. Navigating this terrain and going downhill in sandals or flip flops can be dangerous.

You can stand under the falls to enjoy the refreshing water but the pool is shallow and not suitable for swimming. If you want to swim, there is a diving board into the lake across the road from the entrance to the waterfall. You can swim in the lake there.

The restaurant at the bottom of the trail serves drinks and meals.

What to bring and wear:

  • $3.00 to enter the park.
  • Bottled water
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Sneakers
  • Snacks

On horseback: a third option is horseback. You can ride most of the way to the falls. Horse rental is by the hour. See information on horseback riding. Horses are recommended on the waterfall trail only in the dry season. Please reserve your horses the day before you plan to ride to be sure they are available for you to enjoy.
